Spray Paint 101 - Let's get painting!
I'm bursting at the seams to get this series of tutorials started: Spray Paint 101!
It's going to be chock full of projects from easy to advanced, so go out and grab some spray paint so we can get started! I'm sad to say one of my best helpers and craft hounds, my step-daughter M will be leaving soon, heading for Kentucky, so the first project will be for her.
One of the many things I've discovered with Spray Paint is that some people are just afraid of it. They've had a bad experience with it, and just won't use it again. Maybe it was the drips, maybe it was dry time -- Who knows? Let me tell you. Spray paint has come a long way in the last 10 years, so it's time to move on from your fears and get to know spray painting again.
What can I spray paint?
The sky really is the limit when it comes to this versatile and colorful paint. Let's start with materials. You can spray paint glass, paper, ceramic, plastic, plaster, wood, metal & fiber. Did I leave anything out?
Where should I spray paint? Do I need a fancy spray booth?
You should always ALWAYS spray outdoors, away from cars, house, pets, babies and fire. My typical setup includes an old (yet sturdy) cardboard box, at least 20 feet from anything. If it's windy at all, you probably don't want to spray until it calms down. You need nothing fancy when it comes to spray painting, although, if you have the means, and it's something that makes you feel like spray painting more often, get it! (even if it's a cupcake!)
Do you use a special technique when you spraypaint?
YES. I use what I call the "Z" or zigzag method.
{{ I'll be posting a video this coming week on what the Z method is, and why it works. }}
Come back Monday to see what happens when glass plates and spray paint collide!

New on Etsy: Save the Date Screenprinted Towels!
I had this idea and ran, no SPRINTED with it. I created these for my wedding (gilpin-percy-wedding.blogspot.com) and wanted to share these cool wares with the world.
Each towel is individually ironed, screen printed, ironed again, and folded. Since the screen printing is done by me, a person, by hand - and not by a machine... each will vary slightly, but hardly noticeable.
If you decide you'd like to have these made for your own upcoming nuptials, I'd love create your custom design. You can find them here.
